The VELUX competition has been held every two years since 2004. This is an international event that attracts more and more future architects from all over the world. The award was established in close cooperation with the International Union of Architects (UIA) and the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE).
Topic
The theme of the VELUX 2014 competition "Light of the Future" does not have a clear framework and encourages thinking about, for example, such issues as:
• Concepts harnessing the power of the sun as a natural source of light and energy
• Contribution of daylight to a healthy indoor climate
• Opportunities and challenges of natural lighting in the renovation of existing buildings and urban structures
• How architecture and daylight can stimulate interaction between space and people
• Effects of natural light on human health and well-being
• Abstract concepts such as daylight and its essence, sunlight and moonlight, day and night, inside and outside, etc.
How to participate
Students of architectural specialties from all over the world can take part in the International Architecture Competition VELUX 2014 - individually or in a team. Each student or team should have a mentor - an architecture teacher - to provide support to the participant. The competition does not oblige the participants to use any VELUX products in their projects.
