The VELUX group of companies announced the start of accepting applications for the VELUX International Architecture Competition for students IVA-2016. The competition aims to inspire prospective student architects around the world to work with daylight to explore and rethink its meaning in architecture. To participate, students must register by April 1, 2016.
“We want to pay tribute to daylight and the important role it plays in building design. For centuries, the Sun was the only source of light in the interior, it was extremely interesting and fascinating for architects. But even now, natural light can be quite a difficult subject to study, understand and use in work,”says Per Arnold Andersen, head of the Prize organizing committee.
The main theme of the International Architecture Competition VELUX for students IVA-2016 is "Light of the Future". The competition calls for architecture students around the world to propose modern ways to use sunlight as their primary source of energy and lighting. Ways to improve the living and working conditions of people in modern buildings. It is no coincidence that one of the main tasks for the contestants is to modernize the existing housing stock, taking into account the possibilities of natural lighting. According to the assignment, this should be a key factor for change.
