Lianyungang City District is located on the shores of the Yellow Sea. It is both a popular resort and an important point on the so-called New Silk Road. So the location for a large trade and exhibition complex was chosen very precisely. As in many works of the German bureau gmp, which is actively working in China, everything is extremely functional, representative, but sparing of emotions.

Four large exhibition pavilions of regular rectangular shape were erected on a common foundation measuring 200 m by 320 m. They are arranged around a connecting central hall with a conference center above it. Entrances there are organized from both the east and west sides, both are designed as a promising deepening portal. This decision is an obligatory nod towards traditional Chinese architecture, since it refers to the historical way of constructing a wooden roof with special supporting brackets - douguns. On the northern and southern sides, this move is repeated in smaller proportions in the design of the entrances for unloading cars.

For the decoration of more than discreet facades, the architects used light granite. But low and extended planes have slots all the way up. Firstly, it allows you to visually break the volume that would otherwise become monotonous into unequal parts, and secondly, the vertical lines should remind visitors of the barcode stripes - a mandatory attribute of almost any product in our time. So the purpose of the complex is literally reflected in its architectural design. This is especially noticeable in the evening, when the backlight enhances the effect.

The spacious pavilions have a rigid module for organizing the internal space in the form of a 9 x 12 m lattice and can be used not only for a variety of exhibitions, but also for holding sports competitions, concerts or festivals. Additional flexibility is provided by skylights and a high level of natural light in the pavilions. But the main public area is the congress center on the second floor of the central hall, or rather, two large staircases leading to it with cascading waterfalls in the central part. And this is probably the only attempt to add emotion to the purely business space of the exhibition complex.
