The XXV anniversary architectural festival "Zodchestvo" will be held from 5 to 7 October 2017 at the Gostiny Dvor exhibition complex. The theme of the festival is "Quality now".
Here is what the curators of the festival, Andrey and Nikita Asadov, have to say about the 2017 theme:
“In the modern world, when quantitative indicators have already been achieved, quality is a necessary condition for winning the competition.
Russian cities today are seriously losing in the quality of life. At the same time, in the world, the quality of the urban environment is becoming the same instrument of economic growth as factories and plants were a hundred years ago.
We want to live in comfortable and beautiful cities - from an individual building to the city as a whole. At the same time, there are still no clear and publicly available explanations of what is good and what is bad, and each customer has to explain again why quality cannot be saved.
The quality of the urban environment is an integral product, where each of the participants in the process has his own share of responsibility. The authorities are responsible for the quality of management, the developer - for the quality of investment content, the builder - for the quality of project implementation, the architect and city planner - for the quality of space organization, and society - for the quality of culture and atmosphere in this space. ***
This year, everyone will have the opportunity to take part in the competition for the best special project dedicated to the theme of the festival, and become its co-curator.
