Copenhagen International School, Denmark's largest international school, has existed since 1963. Until recently, it was located in two buildings in different parts of the city, but this year it was able to unite all students and teachers in one building - on the bulk land in Norhaun. Green areas will soon appear nearby, and the new landscaped space between the school and the water will serve not only an educational institution, but also all citizens. In the coming years, a metro station will also open nearby.

The building with a total area of 25,000 m2 is designed for 1200 schoolchildren and 280 teachers, while there are 930 students aged from three to 19 years and 180 teachers. Most children are from the USA and Denmark (20% each), followed by the UK (13%). Parents of students are mainly employees of the Danish branches of international companies and organizations, citizens of more than 80 countries around the world.

The school's façade is clad with 12,000 solar panels (6,048 m2): one of the largest photovoltaic cells in the country installed on a single building. Since the individual panels are located at different angles, this creates a decorative "sequin effect", but the main thing, of course, is more than 200 megawatt-hours of electricity that the facade can generate per year, covering more than half of the school's needs. The batteries also serve as visual aids for students to follow their performance and use the findings in math and physics lessons.

The building consists of a base with common areas and four "towers" (5-7 floors) with classrooms for students of different ages - toddlers, elementary, middle and high school. The roof of the base serves as a common play area for them: thanks to this, none of the children, especially the younger ones, will come too close to the water or leave the school grounds.

The lower level houses the lobby, gyms, library, dining room and a spacious theater hall with rehearsal rooms. After the end of classes, this part of the building can be separated from the classrooms and used for any school and city events.

The classrooms are generally located in the corners of the "towers" to maximize sunlight; they differ depending on the age of the students (the rooms for babies are the most spacious). The lamps in the school are LED, teachers can adjust their color temperature and intensity of work. The floors are made of oak wood, the upholstery is made of wool, the bookcases are made of bamboo.

The construction budget is more than 500 million Danish kroner (more than 67 million euros). Of these, over 350 million were donated by various funds, the rest was covered by a mortgage loan.
