The project of the 40-storey tower was developed by Christian de Portzamparc in the early 2000s, but soon it was “put on the shelf”, and implementation had to wait for 12 long years. Thanks to the corner section - at the intersection of Park Avenue and 27th Street - the architect was able to divide the tower into two parts. As a result, it became easier to provide light and views to the largest number of apartments, which was also facilitated by the complex crystalline form of the building: the protruding parts serve as a kind of bay windows. In addition, as if the split volume made it possible to dispense with the indentation from the red line, usually required for high-rise buildings in Manhattan (otherwise they completely shade the street and adjacent buildings).

The complex outline of the residential complex also made the 469 apartments more interesting and varied, ranging in size from studios to 4-bedroom units. The part facing 28th Street has a driveway for rented apartments occupying the lower 22 floors of the Prism Tower (developer Equity Residential), from the Park Avenue side there is an entrance for condominium residents (upper 18 floors, developer Toll Brothers). The project budget was $ 400 million.

A fitness center with a sauna, a 20-meter swimming pool, a salon, a cinema, etc. located at the bottom of the tower are available to all residents. Also on the ground floor there is a shop, a restaurant and the entrance to the metro station.
