The concept for the development of the All-Russian Exhibition Center, calculated until 2034, was developed by JSC GAO VVTs in cooperation with the Research and Design Institute of the General Plan of Moscow and the Dutch company TCN, specializing in redevelopment of territories. The company has a representative office in Russia and a website in Russian, although judging by the portfolio posted on it, the All-Russian Exhibition Center is still its only Russian project. However, this does not prevent TCN-Russia representatives from calling themselves the leaders of "redevelopment of real estate objects in Russia." As for the Research and Development Institute of the General Plan, he was responsible for the development of the historical and cultural base plan of the VVTs territory and the functional zoning scheme.
According to Ivan Malakhov, General Director of GAO VVTs, the concept has been developed over the past two years and provides four main directions for the development of the All-Russian Exhibition Center. The first direction was named "The Alley of Nations" - this is the zone of all the main state-protected monuments of history and culture available on the territory of the All-Russian Exhibition Center. It is assumed that the pavilions of the former Soviet republics will not only be carefully restored, but also returned to their previous owners. In other words, they will be transferred to the balance of the CIS countries, and those in Moscow will again have their own exhibition areas designed to demonstrate national achievements. In addition, the BRIC countries (India, Brazil, China) and other states will also be able to rent space on the "Alley of Nations".
The second area is the so-called "Innovation Campus", a place where scientific and business activities are concentrated. Here we are talking about specialized pavilions ("Space", "Livestock", "Science and Technology", "Education", etc.), which together with the newly built ones form the "City of Innovations and Achievements". If you enter the territory of the All-Russian Exhibition Center through the main entrance, then this town will be on the right hand. And again, VVC is counting on attracted resources: some of the specialized pavilions can become official exhibition sites for federal departments and the largest enterprises of the country, for example, Roscosmos, Rosaviatsia, Rusnano, Rostekhnologii, the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as Sberbank, Gazprom, Rosneft, etc. … As Ivan Malakhov told the press, negotiations are already underway with the leadership of Roscosmos, the Ministry of Transport and a number of other departments.
To the left of the central alley will be the Center for the Quality of Life. This is an entertainment and commercial direction, that is, all kinds of shops, restaurants, cafes, as well as a hotel and apartment complex for participants in events held at the All-Russian Exhibition Center. “In this part of the complex, visitors will be able to get acquainted with new types of products and services that meet the highest standards of quality of life,” Ivan Malakhov explains in his interview to RBC-TV. The director of the All-Russian Exhibition Center named the Food Promenade as a pilot project, which will present both comprehensive information about healthy eating and the organic products themselves.
And, finally, the "Recreation Zone" will be formed as an educational and recreational complex. It will include gardens, parks and flower beds, (and possibly the adjacent Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences), sports facilities, concert and variety stages. This is the area farthest from the main entrance, it is located behind the famous "Raketa" and is the least built-up. The authors of the concept intend to take advantage of the latter circumstance: a number of new facilities will appear here, including a water park, a rhythmic gymnastics center by Irina Viner, a model park “Russia in miniature”, a historical farm “Heritage” and several mini-hotels. Of course, there are no specific architectural projects yet - they will not begin to develop them until next year, but the concept provides for the need to fit the newly erected structures into the existing architectural ensemble of the All-Russian Exhibition Center. The total area of new construction throughout the complex should not exceed 750 thousand square meters.
As early as this autumn, the new Concept will be presented to the Board of Directors of JSC GAO VVTs, which, we recall, includes representatives of the government of the Russian Federation (70%) and Moscow (30%). In total, its implementation, according to developers' estimates, will require about 120 billion rubles. It is assumed that the first stage of the VVTs renovation will be completed by 2014, when the exhibition center will celebrate its 75th anniversary.
