The name of the hotel reflects its coordinates: 48 degrees north latitude, in the Vosges mountain range in the very east of France. It is located on a slope above the village, whose name in multilingual Alsace is pronounced as Brethanbach, and Breitenbach, and Breitenbach. The surroundings, like almost all of eastern France, are strikingly picturesque.
The client of the project, landscape architect Emil Leroy-Jönsson, wanted to combine his two native cultures in it - Alsatian and Danish, more broadly - Scandinavian. We chose a place for the hotel that is one of the protected areas of the EU
"Natura 2000", therefore, the Nordic respect for nature came in handy here.
The hotel's area of two hectares is occupied by 14 "huts"-rooms, a variation on the theme of the Norwegian hytte. They are built in four types of local raw and eco-certified wood, while providing the best views of the scenery from the inside and privacy for the guests. They easily stand on the ground: if desired, they can be dismantled without harm to the environment.

Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter has developed four types of “huts”: “Low grass” are located around the main building and are barrier-free. "Tree" and "Ivy" are tall and slender. Placed on top of the Fjell hill, from the Norwegian word for mountain, they are designed for families with children: there are safe outdoor terraces.
The main building houses an organic restaurant, which is dominated by local traditional dishes and products, including the hotel's own vegetable garden. There are also exhibition spaces, as well as a spa with a Scandinavian twist.
