The final meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Polytechnic Museum took place this afternoon. As we were told in the press service of the museum, nine members of the council voted for the project of Japanese architects, while its main rival, American Thomas Lieser, who participated in the competition in collaboration with Mikhail Khazanov, got only 6 votes. The project of the owner of the "Golden Lion" at the Venice Biennale Junya Ishigami is based on the idea of turning the museum into a part of a large-scale park, which is supposed to be set up both around the building and under it, for which an additional floor will be dug. The museum will also receive new squares thanks to the overlap of the courtyards - they are supposed to be covered with an almost invisible but strong film.

Let us remind you that this is the second vote for projects developed during the international competition. The first time the Museum's Board of Trustees met on September 29, but then the votes were evenly distributed, and the architects who reached the final were given two weeks to work out additional questions. The press service of the Polytechnic Museum assured us that both authors made a lot of clarifications in their projects that made the concepts much more real, but they could not specify what exactly changed in the proposals of Ishigami and Lieser. However, the museum promises to publish expert opinions on both projects on its website in the very near future. Archi.ru will follow the development of events.
