It is intended for exhibiting works from the collection of entrepreneur Masao Hoki. These canvases are in line with the realism of contemporary Japanese artists, some of which were created specifically for the collector. These are landscapes, interiors, nudity, mostly large format and painted in great detail.
Hokey commissioned the architects Nikken Sekkei to create a building that not only represents a collectible value, but also creates an optimal environment for displaying paintings. The galleries of the museum are each placed in its own block, slightly curved in plan, so that you can take a look at all the exhibits at once. All galleries are of the same size, end with a panoramic window at the end, they have the same lighting conditions. The free, organic layout of the museum allows it to easily blend in with the surrounding park.
