ZHA architects won the competition back in 2014, but only now the project is shown to the public. We are talking about 90,000 m2 of offices, retail and public spaces, which should appear on the now unused 2.2 hectares of land next to the train station. Masaryk. The project will meet the needs of the growing service and IT industries for class A office complexes.
The first phase of the project should be completed in 2020, it is planned to be fully implemented in 2022. The budget will amount to 6.5 billion Czech crowns, of which 135 million will be spent on the reconstruction of the station. It is assumed that the railway station, among other things, will become the terminal for the new express to the International Airport. Vaclav Havel.
The new complex should “sew together” districts 1, 3 and 8, reducing the negative impact of the Vilsonova Street overpass that separates them. The new development is a series of buildings and public areas along the boulevard Na Florenzi. A new square will appear at the station - the city gate. In addition, three more "plazas" will be created, including one near the bus station in the 8th district. Thanks to the project, new crossings over the railway tracks will be created, access to platforms will be improved.
Despite the fact that the new district will be located one kilometer from the Old Town Square, it “responds” to the structure of the old town with its numerous spiers: from the side of the historical center of Prague, the horizontally stretched building ends with a vertically oriented façade.
