Architectural School MARCH and VELUX are announcing a grant competition for the Re (New) Building Reconstruction Workshop program.
World experience shows that one of the most important directions in architectural theory and practice is redevelopment, that is, the adaptation of existing buildings to new functions. This approach meets modern values and requires a detailed study and a professional approach. There are also numerous reconstruction projects in Russia, and we know of a considerable number of good examples. However, many buildings are still overlooked.
We offer the participants of the competition for a grant to prepare a video no more than 2 minutes long about potential objects for reconstruction.
The purpose of the video is to draw a person's attention to undeservedly forgotten or abandoned buildings or territories that surround us. In their works, the authors must show the object, tell where it is, what its hidden value is and how it can be transformed so that everyone - the city, society, developer - remains in the black. Authors are free to choose artistic techniques. The quality of the installation and the technical parameters of the video are not paramount. The main thing is an interesting idea!
You can take part in the competition as follows:
- fill out an application for training on the MARSH website;
- remove a video with a duration of no more than 2 minutes. and corresponding to the theme of the competition;
- place the video on YouTube, adding to the title “Demolish cannot be reconstructed. Name and surname of the author”, and in the tags - VELUX and MARCH school;
- by 12:00 on April 14, send a link to the video to [email protected], indicating in the subject line: “For the VELUX grant competition”.
The winners of the competition will be selected by voting by a professional jury and announced on April 15, 2020. The total prize fund is 95,000 rubles. The first place winner gets the opportunity to study on the program at a special price -50% of the tuition fee. The prize for the second place is 30%, and for the third - 20% of the tuition fee *.

About the PRO intensive "Re (New) Workshop on the reconstruction of buildings"
The course is intended for practicing architects, designers, engineers, restorers, managers working or planning to work in the field of redevelopment, reconstruction and adaptation of existing buildings to new needs. Having got acquainted with the theory and practice of reconstruction through real examples, students will master the basic techniques of working with historical buildings under the guidance of practicing architects and other related specialists. The course program is aimed at a systematic approach to redevelopment: from a comprehensive study of the real territory in the center of Moscow, reprogramming and project economics to process management, conceptual design and approval stages.
