On November 15, Moscow hosted an international forum “Day of innovations in architecture and construction”. According to the organizers' estimates, the forum was attended by 1,500 people, most of whom were architects, designers and builders. An exhibition was organized on the site of the forum, in which the main players of the market of building materials and equipment took part. The business program consisted of conferences and round tables, which were attended by architects, prominent representatives of the industry, as well as state and public institutions. Knauf company acted as the general partner of the event. The head of the KNAUF CIS group Janis Kralis made a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony of the forum: “Innovation is what makes the world develop. For me, innovation is always something associated with a new outlook on the world, with moving forward, with new technologies, with new opportunities and the future. Knauf works all over the world."
The heads of the leading architectural bureaus of Russia shared their views and hopes about the future of architecture at the round table "Innovative construction technologies: technologies of the future" organized by Knauf, during which they talked about their own experience and perception of the current state of construction technologies, presented their views on how and in what direction they develop. The round table was moderated by Vyacheslav Osipov, Vice President of the Union of Architects of Russia, President of the Moscow Architectural Society, Head of MAO-Sreda LLC.
The following architects took part in the discussion: Timur Bashkaev, head of the T. Bashkaev Architectural Bureau, Daniil Lorenz, partner of the DNK ag architectural group, Sasha Lukich, managing partner of the Portner Architects design bureau.
Sasha Lukic made the audience think about what is the meaning of innovation, what the future demands from architects and builders. “Innovation doesn't make sense on its own. It should provide money savings, time savings or product improvements for the same money,”says Lukic. "We should also think about how modern industry is changing." He spoke of the "fourth industrial revolution." Thanks to her, the world is returning to individual solutions, product customization, but on a completely different level, and the role of an architect and designer in this renewed world will be very significant. In different countries of the world, these changes did not begin at the same time and are occurring at different rates.
Timur Bashkaev returned those present to the discussion of the specifics of work in Russian conditions. Using the example of the construction of TPU ZIL, he spoke about the application of innovations in the construction of an infrastructure facility in a very short time and during the forced revision of the project. Here, the LSTC technology was used with AQUAPANEL cladding with cement slabs. Outside, lightweight facades are clad in aluminum cassettes.
In his story, Timur Bashkaev noted the prompt and high-quality work of the KNAUF services that supported the project, he emphasized the need to create solutions that would be universal, flexible and least dependent on adjacent structural systems.
The title of the report by Daniel Lorenz, who was the third speaker, is “Wood 2.0”, and the topic is “Wooden revolution”. It was about the fact that in the near future wood will begin to compete with concrete and steel, because it is already approaching them in its strength characteristics. The advantages of wood are obvious: most of the "production cycle" takes place in the forest, and in finished structures, wood is lightness (about two times lighter than concrete and five times lighter than steel), environmental friendliness and aesthetic qualities. The tree is beautiful in itself, it does not need to be hidden. "This technology has a great future, projects of buildings up to 100 meters high are already being built or developed."
The KNAUF stand united the directions of production of materials based on gypsum and other binders, as well as heat-insulating materials and materials from expanded polystyrene. At the invitation of the Knauf CIS group, Dirk Stetzer (BIM-technologies) and Pierre-Gilles Parra (Knauf-Geofoam) took part in the thematic events of the program with their reports.
The head of the product strategy and market research department of the international group Knauf Dirk Stetzer spoke at the conference "BIM - the digital future of construction" about international standards of BIM technologies, what they mean and what role they play for a manufacturer of building materials and such a provider of system solutions in construction like KNAUF. He presented the libraries of system solutions developed by the company. “Knauf began work on the creation of libraries in 2014 and is now conducting it in many countries around the world. Basically, the company focuses on creating files for complete systems, and not for individual products, which can be called the advantage of Knauf. Each such object contains detailed information in the user's native language. Everything is done in order to simplify the design as much as possible,”Dirk Stetzer said in his report. The company makes a special effort to ensure that up-to-date versions of materials for BIM are in the public domain. The Russian division of the international KNAUF group is at the forefront of the movement to introduce BIM technologies.
At the end of the session, Pierre-Gilles Parra made a presentation of the new Knauf material - Knauf-Geofoam foam polystyrene blocks - and technologies for their application to create infrastructure facilities and landscape design.
