GRAPHISOFT Company® delivered an expert opinion at the section devoted to the practical aspects of the use of advanced technologies in construction and work on errors.
How to beat BIM technology? Experts and participants of the V annual practical conference "Construction Management" from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Irkutsk, Samara and Belarus understood Building Information Modeling mechanisms, the use of which in 2019 will become a mandatory requirement for construction objects financed by the state budget. The event took place on March 29-30 in Moscow, organized by the Academy of Real Estate (ARE) training center, operator - PROEstate Events.
The program of the first day of the conference consisted of three parts. The first session dealt with the preparatory processes using BIM technologies during the construction phase. The experts talked about the rules for organizing the work of the production and technical departments, discussed the tools for developing construction models and how to use them on the construction site.
Conference moderator - Sergey Volkov, Head of Information Modeling Department, ODAS Skolkovo LLC, began by announcing the results of Martin Fisher's research, which prove the need to use BIM in construction: the efficiency of work at each stage of the construction of a facility grows from 69% to 95%.
Denis Kuptsov, Commercial Director, Trimble Solutions Russia, confirmed that information modeling helps to standardize construction processes, minimize waste and eliminate human error. The expert introduced the audience to Tekla software, which creates information models with the highest level of development (LOD). “Our software is available to work from mobile devices and is applied at any stage of the project,” added Denis Kuptsov. "This solution minimizes manual data entry and eliminates human error."
Anastasia Elfimova, business analyst at TEKTA GROUP, shared their experience in implementing engineering workflow: “BIM technologies have allowed us to reduce resource costs and increase the efficiency of the production process. With the help of the engineering document flow model, we have eliminated problems with incomplete documentation, untimely updating of information, loss of documentation, and incorrect data entering the construction site."
In the second session, the experts delved into the topic of dynamic planning, and also discussed audit and technical supervision tools, exchanged experience in using estimate programs in conjunction with information models.
Alexander Balabin, Managing Partner, General Director of SEVERIN PROJECT, talked about the benefits and principles of "lean building".
"The BIM model helps to introduce a system of 'lean construction': to reduce the cost of construction and operation of the facility, - noted Alexander Balabin. - The meaning of BIM is to get a reasonable result, to minimize the number of inconsistencies between specialists from different departments and stages of production. The technology makes it possible to improve the quality of operation of the facility, since the array of information accumulated during the construction process helps to manage, save, plan and reduce risks. " The expert also spoke about the shortcomings of information modeling.
The third session was devoted to working on bugs. According to Egor Kudrikov, Head of the GRAPHISOFT Representative Office (Russia), when implementing BIM technologies, it is impossible to choose one platform and solve all problems with its help - you will have to integrate different information systems. “Among the last significant steps for the industry, I would note the decision of the European Union to adopt the IFC standard, which simplifies both the implementation of BIM models and the“stitching”of various information solutions,” believes Egor Kudrikov. - The IFC standard makes it possible to freely exchange data between different models. This standard has become the next step in the development of the global BIM movement."
Egor Glebov, Architect and Managing Partner of BORSH in his speech, he focused on the practice of using BIM tools in construction. Highlighting the capabilities of the BIMx Pro app® from GRAPHISOFT, the speaker demonstrated navigation through a mobile device not only through the virtual building, but also through the working documentation associated with a real BIM model.
During the report, it became obvious that along with the classic tools for presenting the project to the customer at all stages, including the concept, design and working documentation, BIMx Pro provides the user with round-the-clock access to BIM data, as well as control over the project through a modern mobile device, without requiring with specialized knowledge of design software. The presence of hyperlinks to any element of the model (including those imported via IFC) expands the use of BIMx at the stage of both construction and operation, allowing, using a link encoded in a QR code placed on a real object, to quickly find the corresponding element in a virtual building model.
Thus, the use of the application allows you to quickly check the data and timely transmit information about the need to make changes to the project in order to avoid possible errors in the future.
Victor Klepa, Project Manager of RusatomEnergo International, gave a hint to those conference participants who are just starting to master information modeling: “There is a prejudice that the introduction of BIM technologies in the business processes of companies is a very laborious process, but this is not so. The most painless way is to bring existing design work on objects into the BIM system to the maximum. The effectiveness of the information model directly depends on the amount of data entered. The knowledge base within the BIM model tends to accumulate. According to our observations, a qualitative leap in the analysis and issuance of decisions occurs after the implementation of 5 projects."
“Practical conferences are of great importance for the real estate market,” summed up the results Sergey Volkov, Head of Information Modeling Department, ODAS Skolkovo. “They help to exchange experience and learn information about new technologies and approaches to construction, as well as see real examples of the application of these technologies and“try on”them for yourself. The Skolkovo Innovation Center is an opportunity to test advanced technologies in construction for various types of development projects, and we are happy to share this experience with the professional community."
The V annual practical conference "Construction Management" was held with the support of the Russian Guild of Managers and Developers (RGUD), the Moscow Investors Association (AIM) and the National Agency for Low-Rise and Cottage Construction (NAMIKS). The partners of the event were the software manufacturers GRAPHISOFT and Trimble.
