The checkpoint at the entrance to the Kleefse Waard industrial park, where high-tech enterprises are located, serves 100% of visitors, employees, suppliers traveling to the park 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The capacity of the original building was no longer enough, and the access road had to be doubled. It was decided to build a new building, but it turned out that when the old one was demolished, the main line of electronic communications would be damaged, which would paralyze the work of the entire park.
Therefore, the demolition was replaced by a "surgical" reconstruction. Part of the existing checkpoint was cut off, the cladding was dismantled, and a new volume with already different proportions was created around the preserved frame.
The upper part was called the Black Box ("black box"): it was wrapped in a black reflective film that changes color at night depending on the color of the light source.
The smaller first floor is made completely transparent. Inside there is a lobby with a guard counter giving him a 360-degree view. There is a small office in the back.
