When the interior of a medical institution is created, there can be no insignificant details, since all elements of this system should be aimed at restoring the health of patients. The quality and safety of finishing materials play a primary role in maintaining a healthy microclimate in the clinic, be it work surfaces, walls or suspended ceilings.

In this case, we are talking not only about operating rooms, treatment rooms, doctor's offices, but also about waiting areas for patients, corridors, lobbies and any other auxiliary rooms. All of them are in an area of increased risk of developing strains of pathogenic bacteria, as a result of which special hygienic requirements are imposed on finishing materials.

Knauf armstrong - the largest manufacturer of suspended ceiling and wall systems; since the end of 2019, it has been part of Knauf Ceiling Solutions, part of the Knauf group of companies.

In portfolio Knauf armstrong there are many striking projects around the world, and the range of ceiling solutions is designed to suit all major segments of public spaces and includes solutions from various types of materials.

Knauf Armstrong's ceiling solutions, specially designed for healthcare facilities, are divided by material type into two types: metal ceiling panels on visible and hidden fixing systems and hard mineral fiber panels with glass fiber mat and without glass mat on a visible suspension system. Each of the two types of panels on the surface has a special antibacterial coating Bioguard [1], which includes a highly effective biocide parmetol. Its effect prevents the emergence and development of almost all types of infectious agents, which is the most important component of indoor air purity. Moreover, it is active throughout the entire life cycle of the ceiling slab, which means at least 10-15 years of trouble-free service.

In addition, the environmental safety of the product plays an important role in the quality of ceiling solutions. Knauf Armstrong ceiling tiles do not contain formaldehyde and other harmful chemicals, and the coating itself, containing the biocide parmetol, is completely safe for people, animals and plants.

And finally, the surface of the Bioguard series ceiling tiles [2] can be treated with disinfectants, which include the most common active substances - quaternary ammonium, hydrogen peroxide, chlorine.

The whole range of functional characteristics allows us to recommend Bioguard ceiling panels for use in rooms with a cleanliness class up to ISO-3 in accordance with GOST ISO 14644-1-2002. Knauf Armstrong's medical products are certified hygienic [3].

Knauf Armstrong representatives are always ready to provide qualified assistance in the selection of a ceiling solution, and the specialists of the design department will help to implement technically complex projects and calculate non-standard components. Well-chosen ceiling solutions allow not only to take into account the mandatory requirements for the decoration of medical premises, but can also become part of modern functional design and improve acoustic comfort.

Depending on the requirements for the project and the type of premises to be equipped, you can choose slabs with increased sound insulation or increased sound absorption. In addition to functional features, ceiling tiles also have a high light reflectance, which can significantly reduce lighting costs and provide additional visual comfort that is so important for staff and patients.

The completed project is an example where aesthetics, functionality and practicality are combined.

In the course of work on the interior project of the Maxima clinic near Moscow designer Ekaterina Grakova combined functionality with a non-standard approach that differs markedly from the usual brevity in the medical field. On the part of the customer, there was a request to avoid too "hospital" atmosphere and at the same time emphasize the status and professionalism of the medical institution.

In rooms of an exclusively functional nature, which includes the transit area in front of the operating rooms, the most functional metal panels on the visible suspension system were used

The starting point of the concept of the main space of the clinic was the designer's work with the color and texture of materials, taking into account the tasks of each specific zone.

Initially non-standard in configuration, the reception area was originally played with the help of bright marine shades and golden decorative elements, as well as a combination of unusual surface textures. The designer, together with the representative of Knauf Armstrong, selected textured ceiling tiles for the 3D wall panels with geometric patterns

In corridors designed for intensive use and waiting areas for visitors, it was especially important to provide a comfortable, inviting atmosphere along with hygienic requirements. Therefore, the choice was made in favor of a hard mineral fiber ceiling solution with a Bioguard Acoustic fiberglass surface with MicroLook edging, which improved acoustic comfort and removed unwanted noise so that patients can expect to receive in a relaxed environment. The decorative panels and mirrors used by the designer added additional visual accents, creating a contrast with the white plane of the ceiling so that visitors, including the smallest guests, would not be bored.

And finally, the main premises of the clinic, doctors' offices, are also decorated with interesting design elements: a white functional ceiling based on Bioguard Acoustic antibacterial boards made of solid mineral fibers harmoniously transforms into an unusual plaster wall panel in the form of a rose or a logo, accentuated by volumetric lighting.

Thus, the design approach, including well-selected Knauf Armstrong ceiling systems, made it possible, based on standard solutions, to create comfortable working conditions for highly qualified clinic specialists and, of course, to ensure a high level of comfort and safety for patients, which was the main task of the team during the implementation of this project.

From July 2020 the company Knauf armstrong localized production of the most popular products in Russia line Bioguard - mineral fiber boards Bioguard Plain 90RH 12 mm thick.
