The Heights school building is designed for 775 students at once and for two schools: one with a theatrical and performing bias, and the other for children with special needs. The building with a total area of 16.7 thousand m2 fits on a small plot, bounded by streets on three sides, and a park on the fourth. The important transit corridor of Arlington, a suburb of the capital of the United States, passes by. It is known primarily as the location of the Pentagon and an important military necropolis.

The cladding with white glazed bricks emphasizes the sculptural form of the building, while taking into account the dense development around, as well as traditions - in particular, the historic center of Alexandria, which borders the city of Arlington.

The school's five rectangular floors unfold around a central pivot with lifts, stairs and bathrooms like a fan; their roofs have been transformed into green terraces where classes are also taught. The lowest terrace and the adjacent recreational and sports field (1700 m2) are also intended for public events - school and district scale. Local residents can use the 400-seat auditorium, the main gym, library, reception area and dining room to organize their events. All of these rooms are located in the center of the building, next to the lobby.

An art studio, science and robotics laboratories, music classes and two theater halls are available exclusively to schoolchildren.

Each floor received an interior of its own bright color: this creates a mood and helps to navigate. The school for pupils aged 11-22 with special needs occupied the second and third tiers, accessible from the first floor. It is easy to get there and privacy is ensured. The program includes its own gym and courtyard, an occupational and physical therapy unit, and a “sensory cottage”.
