In total, three houses with the self-explanatory name "Birdhouse" were built on the territory of the resort. Compact and neat, mounted on thin supports and covered with a bird's beak-like canopy, these objects, upon first acquaintance, really evoke associations with birdhouses raised high above the ground.
Totan Kuzembaev recalls that initially the new guest houses were planned to be built in the forest, which at the time of the design was in the rental use of the customer. Accordingly, the project of the houses was developed taking into account their intended location - in particular, the architect had to "introduce" new volumes into the protected green environment as tactfully and imperceptibly as possible. Hence, in fact, the "birdhouses" - what other houses, if not birds, can boast of such a "lost" in the natural environment. The architect invented for them thin metal "legs" - piles, the height of which is more than two meters, according to the plan of Totan Kuzembaev, this would be enough to completely preserve a person walking through the forest not only an unobstructed passage, but also an overview of the picturesque landscape and horizon lines. It was planned to paint the facades of the buildings from the forest side in a dark brown, almost black color - to match the tree trunks, the same color would be the piles. “This is how you walk along the forest path in the deepening twilight of the evening, and in front only a mysterious light glows - just like in a fairy tale. Either the house of a forest nymph is in front, or a hut on chicken legs,”the architect explains with a smile.
Unfortunately or fortunately, the customer never received permission to build birdhouses in the forest, and the house had to be moved to the very shore of the Klyazminskoye reservoir. And since there are golf courses in the immediate vicinity, the volumes have turned from camouflaged forest houses into living stands - from the windows of "birdhouses" and especially from their terraces, it is very convenient to watch the game.
At the same time, their appearance has not undergone significant changes: it turned out that outside the forest, "birdhouses" look more than attractive. So much so that they have already become a serious competitor to the red guest houses. By the way, the new guesthouses have a lot in common with their predecessors. They are also very compact and also have only one residential floor. Both are set on piles, both have a flat metal roof and an open terrace-balcony. And their constructive solution is similar - the houses are collapsible. The frame consists of one-piece panels of enclosing structures, pre-fabricated at the factory. Both the outer walls, and the inner partitions, and the floor with a ceiling in the same place, at the plant, are equipped with a fine interior finish, which significantly reduces the construction time of buildings. All the components of these houses are wooden, which makes them surprisingly warm even in the fierce cold. And only the supporting frame of the house is made of rectangular metal pipes.
At the same time, the architecture of buildings, of course, cannot be compared. The red houses owe their memorable silhouette to the round balcony and the visor that echoes it, while the "birdhouses" are emphatically geometric. In plan they are rectangular, and in profile they are square brackets, where the pitched roof passes into the facade and then into the bottom of the house. The outer side of the bracket, that is, the roof and ends of the houses, as well as their rear facades, are finished with a dark-colored larch board. From the south-east, where the main facade with a terrace and a porch faces, the natural color of the wood board is left, so that each house seems to acquire the front and back sides, the contrast of which creates an interesting architectural image. A certain coquetry to houses is added by the perforation of the corner part and the upturned nose of the canopy of the roof that protrudes strongly beyond the main volume of the building.
As for the internal layout, the birdhouses have a significant advantage over their bright red competitors. The fact is that new guesthouses with an area of 78 sq.m. are designed primarily for couples with children, and the bedroom is separated from the living room. Also, each house has a kitchen, bathroom, dressing room and pantry. Separately, it should be said about the space under the houses. If it was not supposed to be used in any way in the forest, then in a new place it can easily turn into a convenient place for parking personal vehicles.
Interior solutions of guest houses are distinguished by almost home comfort and functionality. The decoration uses exclusively natural, environmentally friendly materials in warm colors. Refinement is added by snow-white furniture, tall mirrors and large windows that let in streams of natural light into the rooms.
Today only three “Birdhouse Houses” have been built in Pirogovo. Considering the entire list of their advantages, and most importantly, wide public recognition (all three houses have been booked many months in advance), I would like to believe that there will be more of them. Moreover, the author of the houses, Totan Kuzembaev himself, does not exclude such a possibility.
