The bridge will be located in the south of the city and will support the "post-industrial" development of Budapest in this direction. At the same time, he will free the bridges in the center of the Hungarian capital, reducing their load by 40–55 thousand cars a day.
It was conceived to build a bridge between the Uybud and Chepel districts back in 1985, but only now they moved from idea to implementation. It is assumed that the development of the project will take two to three years.
The UNStudio cable-stayed bridge will be the first of its kind in Budapest. Its main span will be 220 m. Its two steel pylons will be coated with white paint with a "gloss" so that the bridge "reacts" to the changing time of day and weather. The architects paid special attention to the clarity of the appearance of their structure: in particular, the spaces above and below the canvas are perfectly visible, the bridge does not block the panorama of the city and the river.
With a total length of 500 meters, the bridge is designed for cars (three lanes in each direction), pedestrians, cyclists and trams.
