In 2018, PENOPLEX SPb made impressive progress in promoting and implementing its innovative solutions in BIM modeling. In February, the company uploaded its solutions to the BIMLIB Library portal, which is one of the most popular platforms in Russia for downloading high-quality BIM models.
The innovative solutions of PENOPLEX SPb in BIM represent detailed virtual models of the nodes of buildings and structures, which contain information such as:
- precise geometry of materials;
- their physical, thermal and other parameters;
- functional purpose;
- data for the purchase of materials, including logistics parameters;
- data for calculating the cost.
PENOPLEX® and PLASTFOIL® in BIMLIB
At the moment, the library has already presented 453 technical solutions from PENOPLEKS SPb, which, for the convenience of designers, are divided by the thickness of the material used.
They can be grouped into the following sections:
- Facades. The most numerous section, containing 231 solutions, which can be divided into three groups: insulation under tiles, insulation under plaster and insulation of multilayer walls. Each group contains 77 solutions.
- Roofs - 152 solutions. This section can also be divided into groups: insulation of ballast (28 solutions), inversion (56), traditional (54), and exploited roofs (14). The groups are listed in the order in which they appear on the pages in the BIMLIB.
- Underground waterproofing (including basement wall) - 20 solutions.
- Floors (including refrigerator floors) - 14 solutions.
- Insulation of foundations - 3 solutions.
- Other nodes (abutments, parapets, cornices, expansion joints, etc.) - 33 solutions.
For the first quarter of 2018, PENOPLEX SPb entered the TOP 10 of the most popular BIM libraries of manufacturers. The demand for the company's models is confirmed by their frequent downloads. The "champion" in terms of the number of downloads was the node for the internal insulation of the basement wall - 13 downloads. In second place is the unit for external insulation of the basement wall, as well as the insulation of the wall made of 250 mm thick aerated concrete blocks with 20 mm PENOPLEX® thermal insulation with facade panels cladding (both for 12 downloads).
The company does not intend to be satisfied with what has already been achieved and has approached the third stage of creating a library of BIM models.
The third stage of creating a library of PENOPLEX® and PLASTFOIL® families
Recall that at the first stage, 3D models of roofing and facade structures were uploaded, at the second - models for the design of floors, foundations, underground structures and refrigerated warehouses.
At the third stage, it is planned to add the following sections to the library:
- Thermal insulation of pipelines, containers.
- Road construction.
In addition, in the development of BIM technologies, the company works in several areas, namely:
- Conducting seminars.
- Creation of new training videos.
- Creation of libraries not only for Autodesk Revit software, but also for other platforms.
The vector of adaptation of BIM libraries is now aimed at the second most popular (after Autodesk Revit) platform ARCHICAD-Graphisoft. Also, the models of the PENOPLEX SPb company will be converted to the format of the Russian program RENGA.
The company also takes an active part in various BIM forums, where it informs interested professionals about the created models and features. Today we can talk about the following advantages of BIM-models of the PENOPLEX SPb company:
- The company has created specifications for the calculation of materials and additional elements, which can be copied into the design documentation.
- With the help of Revit, you can edit the BOM by length and width, break the table into parts.
- BOMs calculate the amount of material taking into account flow rates and overlaps.
- Also, for developers of design documentation, it became possible to place additional elements into a project on the Autodesk Revit platform.
Additional elements "PENOPLEKS" allow you to model materials, as well as to analytically calculate the number of fasteners. After adding the necessary additional material, Autodesk Revit will automatically calculate all the necessary materials and output them to a BOM, which can be added to the sheet. This feature speeds up the work of the design engineer.
PENOPLEX SPb actively uses conferences, seminars, exhibitions to demonstrate its capabilities and fruitful communication with potential consumers of the developed BIM models. Only in September 2018, the company took part in two major forums: the Kazakhstan International Building and Interior Exhibition (Almaty) and the 26th International Building Exhibition “BUDPRAGRES-2018” (Minsk, Republic of Belarus). Within the framework of both exhibitions, representatives of the company spoke at conferences with a report on the topic: “BIM and improving the efficiency of decision-making at all stages of the life cycle of a construction object. Using information models of building materials and equipment from the manufacturer."
It is important to note that all BIM models developed by PENOPLEX SPb LLC are also posted on the company's website. There is also a manual: “Designer instructions. Using PENOPLEX Models in Autodesk Revit BIM”. Video instructions have been released for all stages of working with PENOPLEX BIM models. Each video covers one topic in detail. For example, "Creating BOMs with PENOPLEX Models and Adding them to the Project Sheet" or "Adding and Editing PENOPLEX Roof Models in Autodesk Revit".
