The Best office awards have formed a community of architects, customers and manufacturers of office furniture and equipment around itself. For architects, making an office for a well-known brand is often a great start in their careers and an honor on their resume. For large companies, a stylish office is an important part of their identity. Producers also get an environment in which their products are presented in the most favorable light.

Best office has been running since 2010. This year the number of applications was 161, 40 more than last year. More than a thousand people attended the award ceremony in the Danilovsky Event Hall. The number of beauties, successful men and sophisticated evening gowns was off the charts. The festive atmosphere perfectly matched the concept of a modern office. This is a place of happiness, meaningful communication of socially demanded, successful people, a second home, and so on. As you know, happy people do not separate pleasure from benefit. The ceremony, as in previous years, was conducted by Sergey Konnov, head of the information portal www.officenext.ru. There were 15 nominations in total, their number is increasing every year. The award is presented to the architectural bureau and the heads of the company for which the office was made. All projects had strong support teams from the corporation and the architecture team.

the Grand Prix went to the Detsky Mir company and the FORM archbureau. Detsky Mir, which has existed since Soviet times, became a joint stock company, placed shares on an IPO and opened a new office for over 600 employees. In the building of the former printing house, the architects designed four floors, playing with children's and Soviet themes. Right behind the reception there is a small museum of Soviet toys with an immortal tumbler and ducklings. On the same basis, storefront patterns have been created. The furniture is designed in the form of cut candies and enlarged Lego pieces. Corporate colors: red, yellow, blue, green were delicately used in the design of lamps. Transparent meeting rooms were placed on the mezzanine, like the captain's cabin, generally reaching a balance of play and solidity.

The HUAWEI OpenLab Moscow office, designed by ABD Architects, received a prize in the Technology and Innovation category. In the Krylatskiye Kholmy business center, the architects have created a space in the style of a science fiction movie of the Avatar type - white, luminous, with streamlined shapes. The HUAWEI company is engaged in the latest technologies of the future, including the creation of the "Smart City", together with Russian manufacturing companies. The office required a presentation room, an exhibition area and a cloud data center, the device of which became a challenge for all participants in the process. In the showroom, attention is drawn to the digital banking ATM, which completely replaces the bank branch, and the white corian train, which is controlled remotely. Using white corian and translucent concrete, coupled with sophisticated lighting and acoustic scenarios, the architects created the office of the future.

The UNK Archbureau won in two nominations at once: "Atrium of a business center" and "Business space in a public interior". The latter belongs to the SAP consulting company, which has opened the Digital Leadership Center exhibition hub in the Krasnye Holmy business center - the eighth in the world and the second largest after New York. It combines very different spaces: a transformer hall for conferences with LED screens and ring lamps designed according to architects' sketches; exhibition area, divided by themes: Internet of Things, cloud technologies and big data; D-shop for sale of quadcopters, 3D printers and VR helmets. Moreover, the public areas are decorated in neutral gray colors or in a corporate combination of gray and yellow, while the design thinking area for employees and clients, on the contrary, has a homely character with bright, soft furniture. Absolutely all spaces are transformers that change sizes depending on the number of people.

The Yandex department (the fourth floor in the Aurora business center) and the PK AID archbureau of Pavel Kravchenko were awarded for organizing the space. Everything is really organized very flexibly: in monochrome with red accents and with a lot of light wood, open space contains places for work and rest, stationary and mobile meeting rooms, places for meetings of employees. All office "furniture": individual booths with sofas, telephone booths is mobile, it can be quickly rearranged depending on the tasks. And of course there is a stepped amphitheater with a view. This is now a feature of any trendy office. The time has come for actors and showmen in politics; the role of performance and play is also growing in the office.

A flexible (Agile) office is now the main trend, so a special nomination was established for it, in which AvitoTech and the OFFISPROEKT archbureau Denis Lobanov won. In addition to numerous offices, the large Internet holding Avito rented the fifth floor in the White Gardens business center. Along with the flexibility of the layout of the working and meeting areas for 5-8 people, partitions-screens made of bottles, recycled cardboard and ropes are an absolute hit of a fun and creative office. Slip-boxes resembling doors with doors - not every office can afford this. We live in a revolutionary era, when sleep at work is a consequence of the special zeal of the employee, not laziness.

In the “Foreign Project” nomination, the mode: lina bureau with the Warsaw co-working space Brain Embassy was awarded. The coworking space, promising to take out the brain, is located in a multifunctional center and looks more like a theater and educational space like the Strelka Institute. A must-see amphitheater for meetings and events and lots of inspiring details: paint stains on the walls of the meeting room, silhouettes of the Little Prince and the Fox from Exupery's fairy tale on the walls, and so on. Colored metal "threads" that unite the most diverse parts of the interior into a network symbolize neural connections in the brain, that is, in this space, in theory, one thinks well, and new neural connections should appear.

Russian coworking has a slightly different focus. SOK Arena Park was created by Nefa Architects for the Rybakov Foundation, which supports entrepreneurship, education and non-profit social projects in Russia. This coworking space, which won the nomination of the same name, is designed for small entrepreneurs, startups and freelancers who rent small premises for a long and short period. Coworking space occupies nine floors of a building on Leningradsky Prospekt. On the ground floor there is a reception, a bar and a conference room that can be transformed for events. On the other floors, there are workspaces and offices of various sizes. The design is emphatically neutral. An unusual solution for the office is parquet, which brings coziness and solidity.

In the category "Price - Quality" the best was the office of the Nizhny Novgorod company Dreamlaser, which deals with light laser shows. Plombir architects Dmitry Sokolov and Mish Studio - Misha Maslov designed both for themselves, that is, with the style of architectural offices. In the former printing shop, the Art Nouveau buildings of the early 20th century retained their brickwork, and the high space was divided into two tiers, with a mezzanine, but retaining a sense of spaciousness due to glass partitions. With a creative department running 24/7, the architects created sleeping areas, showers, dining and kitchen areas. The most expressive elements are greeted at the entrance to the office. This is a concrete cube (reception desk) suspended from the ceiling, and the remaining rough-textured electrical panels from the printing house are artifacts worthy of a museum.

If we talk about general trends, they are as follows: almost all offices now have amphitheaters: in IT, retail, coworking, etc. They are convenient for both leisure and small meetings and make the office look like a summer theater. Slipboxes are still new, but they remain a counterweight to the idea of homework. Designers are very fond of light wood and glass balls, they use these elements in partitions, lamps and everywhere - apparently, as a reminder of wildlife, drops of water. Digital tech giants and flagships SAP and Huawei, on the other hand, rely on expensive futuristic materials and technological filling. The flexibility of offices, adaptability to different scenarios no longer surprises anyone: this is the norm. Scooters, art objects, sports equipment and other things that decorate life are also found.

The Best Office Awards ceremony was the culmination of the Business & Design Dialogue 2019 business and exhibition program.
