The construction of the world's only private house designed by Zaha Hadid has been completed near Moscow. A villa in the forest within the borders of the Barvikha village near Rublevo-Uspenskoe highway belongs to the developer Vladislav Doronin, co-owner of Capital Group and OKO Group.
More than ten years ago, Vladislav Doronin and Zaha Hadid met at a social event in London, after which they agreed to design the house.
Vladislav Doronin: “I consider Zaha Hadid to be a major league architect. We talked about the Russian avant-garde: she loves it, and I collect it. She was laconic, but witty, her remarks hit the mark. She was an intelligent, sarcastic, very perceptive woman. It turned out that we are both perfectionists and appreciate details, we understood each other very well. Describing the future home, I said that I want to wake up in the morning and see the blue sky, feel free, not see the neighbors. Zaha replied: do you understand that you have to live above the trees? Then she took a napkin and made a sketch. I liked him. So we started Capital Hill, and it turned out exactly as Zaha had in mind. This is not only a beautiful sculpture building, but also a comfortable place to live."
Zaha Hadid, in turn, called Doronin "Russian James Bond", who has style, taste and the ability to create something special.
It can be assumed that the silhouette of the villa is a reference to the horizontal skyscrapers of El Lissitzky, in the conversations about which the idea of cooperation between the architect and the customer was born. But in the performance of Zaha Hadid, the whole house takes on the characteristic features of either a space shuttle landing among birches and pines, or a family of bizarre mushrooms that feed on their roots. The trademark combination of movement, organics and futurism is probably one of the last "originals" from an architect who passed away two years ago.
The two main volumes of the residence - ground and "floating" parts - are connected by three streamlined columns.
The premises of the lower tier are partly built into the hill. The lounges are located deepest, the living room, dining room, kitchen and outdoor swimming pool are on the floor above, and the main entrance, library, guest room and children's bedrooms on the ground level. The sloping glass facades of the first three floors face the forest; curved roofs with ledges of different widths hang over them.
The master bedroom with a spacious terrace soars above the treetops at a height of 22 meters. There is an elevator and a staircase in the shaft between the two concrete columns, from which the surroundings are also visible.
The building was designed in 2006, its total area is 2650 m2… According to the architect and the customer, the result is a "dream house" - fantasy and reality at the same time.
Capital Hill Residence is Zaha Hadid's second completed building in Russia. Her other project, the Dominion Tower business center, was completed in 2015.
