The new arena, intended for sports competitions (primarily football matches with the participation of the local club Girondins de Bordeaux) and concerts, will appear in the territory of the planned green belt already in 2015.
The "bowl" of the stadium for 43,000 spectators will be enclosed in a light "case". Its long-overhang rectangular roof will be supported by many slender white columns. The entire structure of the arena will also be supported by a rectangular podium with wide staircases on all four sides. The ceilings above the stands will consist of concentrically wide strips that let sunlight through small gaps. The wide, winding "ribbon" surrounding the arena outside will contain food and drink stalls and restrooms.
A public area is planned around the stadium, which will be landscaped by Michel Devigne. But the main thing around the building will be a wooded belt, the creation of which is planned by the city authorities in the coming years.
