A four-car heavy duty "filling station" has appeared on the European E20 in Fredericia, central Denmark, commissioned by the energy company E. ON and Clever, a manufacturer of charging equipment for such vehicles. Together they plan to build 48 such facilities on the Scandinavian highways: eight in Denmark and twenty each in Sweden and Norway. The resulting network will fit into a larger system extending south to Rome.
Now charging a car on an electric ship will take 15–20 minutes at such a station due to the process power of 150 kilowatts. When the batteries of electric cars begin to support charging at 350 kilowatts, the devices will be modernized accordingly, and the time costs will be reduced even more.
The stations are made of eco-certified wood and concrete - modular, consisting of "trees" with a green roof and solar panels on it. They can be scaled up to suit your needs, but most importantly, they create a relaxed and comfortable environment, allowing drivers and passengers to take a break from stressful highway travel, and thus - ideally - make roads safer.
The station is designed for reuse and recycling, and the project also includes landscaping that enhances biodiversity, thought out in cooperation with the Danish Society for the Conservation of Nature.
