First, you need to draw up a diagram of the room indicating the exact dimensions, the location of the window and doorway, sewer and sockets. In the next step, a plan is drawn. You can use a pencil on paper, but there are special planners - online programs that help you correctly arrange furniture, choose equipment and even the color of decoration. A safe bet would be to turn to professionals. The designer will offer several models according to your wishes. Working triangle rule

A functional kitchen is based on one rule - a triangle. When developing the design, place the sink, stove and refrigerator at the vertices of an imaginary triangle. Keep in mind that the length of its sides should be no more than two meters, otherwise cooking will turn into a running marathon, exhausting the hostess. The stove is placed, leaving at least 40 cm on the sides for the working area. Remember that it is not safe to put a stove next to a window. Having chosen a corner for the refrigerator, think over which way it is more convenient to open its doors so that when open, it does not block the free space of the room.

What are the layouts?

  1. Single row. This layout is also called linear because the furniture is located in a line along one wall. Suitable for small rooms, narrow spaces or modern studio apartments. In this case, the stove and refrigerator must be located on opposite sides of the sink, leaving space for the working area. The disadvantage is usually limited work space and the inability to purchase additional equipment.
  2. Double row. As the name suggests, furniture is installed along two parallel walls. Usually large kitchens are designed this way, with an area of at least 12 sq.m. Often, the stove and sink are placed along one wall, and the refrigerator is opposite. Such a kitchen is spacious, there is a lot of space for various equipment and storage cabinets. The only difficulty is to correctly position the dining table, this point must be taken into account before ordering furniture.
  3. The corner model is a universal option for all apartments, but it looks more advantageous in square rooms over 8 sq. m. In such a headset there is a lot of storage space, large cabinets and enough space for built-in appliances.
  4. U-shaped has long earned the title of comfortable, which is equally suitable for different quadratures. The furniture set along with the appliances is located along three walls. Listen to the triangle rule and place the main kitchen items against a separate wall.
  5. An island kitchen is a godsend for a large area, over 16 sq.m. In fact, this is one of the previous layouts, which is complemented by an island - a separate work area located in the center of the kitchen. It is the perfect embodiment of functionality and the creation of a unified space in large homes. The island has a "work" surface with a sink or arrange a storage system.
  6. Peninsula. This option is for those who want to implement a fashionable solution with an island, but do not have sufficient dimensions. In this case, the central part adjoins one wall, and a protrusion is obtained that separates the working and dining areas.
