European premiere of The Island (KEN) - a joint project of Dornbracht and the art group DIS
Following the sensational premiere in February this year at the New Museum in New York, the joint project of the DIS art group, Dornbracht and creative director Mike Meire The Island (KEN) will be presented to the European public as part of the international exhibition "KOVORKERS - Network as an Artist" in Paris Museum of Modern Art from October 9, 2015 to January 31, 2016.
The exhibition, the overall set design of which was developed by the DIS group, is dedicated to a new generation of artists, whose work is dominated by the Internet and communications based on the continuous flow of information. Participants discuss the themes of "network individualism" replacing the intimacy of extimacy, as well as the coming era of "ambient intelligence", which implies that today human beings are no longer the only thinking units in the world.
The Island Hybrid Object (KEN) brings together bathroom and kitchen, placing the viewer in the context of today's changing concepts of logic and use of spaces. The centerpiece of the smart island is the Horizontal Shower from Dornbracht with integrated drinking water station. The shower is complemented by a kitchen unit with Lot fittings, a digital Smart Water control and a foot switch. Unusual from a traditional point of view, the space becomes the personification of the phantasmagoric nature of modern life, the way of which is rapidly transforming advanced technologies. The installation will serve as a platform for meetings and discussions on the main topics of the exhibition.

Prouvé RAW Office Edition at the Gare d'Austerlitz
On September 25 and 26, a surprise awaits design connoisseurs and travelers: Austerlitz Train Station in Paris will be transformed into an exhibition area, which will showcase a modern edition of furniture and lighting for workspaces designed by Jean Prouvet in the 1940s. The series embodies the spirit and aesthetics of the "age of machines" with its confident creativity. The choice of the location for the display of the new edition of this collection, realized by the Swiss company Vitra in collaboration with the Dutch denim brand G-Star RAW and the Prouvé family, was not at all accidental: in 1953, designer and engineer Jean Prouvet developed the structure of the station's open platform roofs.
