In June, the British Higher School of Art and Design hosted a presentation of the final projects of the Public Interior Design program led by Fyodor Rashchevsky, a partner at the OFFCON architectural bureau. The program lasts a year and is intended for experienced designers who would like to expand their field of activity.
The work within the course is quite extensive. This year, the designers came to the attention of objects from the regions, which local communities plan to seriously update and turn into modern and multifunctional sites. It should be noted that in all projects, the main emphasis is on environmental friendliness.
Fedor Rashchevsky, course curator:
“The work went on with great enthusiasm, both on the topic of the airport and on the topic of art clusters - the sheer scale of the projects greatly inspired the students. We tried to comprehend as rationally as possible such different and complex multifaceted spaces. Generate a clear core design code, a set of techniques and tools to create holistic projects.
All students, in my opinion, have made a personal creative breakthrough in their thesis, one way or another, they have never had to do anything of the kind in terms of volume before. It is important that our course gave them the opportunity to look at the design process not only from the side of the architect-creator, but from many points of view, already more characteristic of the Practical Architect, armed with the maximum arsenal of approaches."
Below are all three of the last project streams developed by students. The new one starts in October.
Art cluster on the territory of the former Central Market in Ulan-Ude
The authors pursued the goal of providing citizens - regardless of their age - with a modern space for creativity, communication and recreation. It is planned here: a market, a restaurant, street food markets, a coworking space, a lecture hall, a designer clothing store, a photo studio and other functional spaces.

Revitalization of the territory and interiors of the former liquorvodka factory "Livona" in Ulan-Ude
The goal of the project was not only the revival and development of the abandoned part of Ulan-Ude, but also the creation of a unique and functional space that would unite extraordinary, creatively directed, active citizens. The authors propose to place a children's development school, creative workshops, coworking, a summer cinema, sports grounds, a beach and other recreation areas on this territory. And this is just a part of what is proposed.

Interiors of Terminal B, Koltsovo Airport
The project is imbued with the idea of promoting sustainable behavior. Here, at the airport, it is proposed to organize separate waste collection, broadcast video recordings about the benefits of separation, provide passengers with access to drinking water in order to save them from the need to purchase plastic bottles, create several zones with slipboxes where you can relax without leaving the airport terminal. and thus not leaving an “extra carbon footprint”.
