In the course of the new stage of voluntary certification, analyzes and laboratory studies were carried out, which showed that Rockwool stone wool is an environmentally friendly and safe material for health, and the company's production activities meet high environmental requirements.

The study took into account both the properties of the material or product (radiology, electromagnetism, general physics and chemistry, etc.), and the technological process of manufacturing and disposal (the impact of production on the environment, the possibility of recycling), as well as the policy of the manufacturer from the point of view of in terms of preserving the environment and protecting human health.

A building material certificate helps to get additional points when assessing buildings for compliance with the authoritative international LEED and BREEAM standards.

“Our products are made from natural basalt, a raw material of volcanic origin. Due to its natural origin, the material is durable, non-flammable and safe for human health. ROCKWOOL pays special attention to the safety of its products, and caring for the environment is one of the highest priorities. For example, all of our factories have a closed production cycle: cotton wool scraps are returned back to production in order to make it as lean as possible. In addition, the company is implementing a program to popularize the ideas of a responsible attitude to nature, for example, a separate waste collection project “Share with ROCKWOOL” has been implemented - commented Olga Gorlova, Chief Engineer of ROCKWOOL Russia.

EcoMaterial is a voluntary environmental standard designed to assess the quality and environmental aspects of building materials. The standard is compiled on the basis of legislative acts of the Russian Federation, ISO 14024, advanced developments of the World Health Organization, recommendations of international organizations on "green building", DGNB, BREEAM and LEED standards. An audit for compliance with the standard is carried out on the basis of laboratory research, analysis of the environmental documentation of the enterprise, and a reconnaissance assessment of the enterprise.
