4. Floating theater

Theater and concert complex on the Moskva River. Immersive theater cluster

The study of the issue is focused on the main milestones in the history of the theater and is designed as a theater program. “What if the theater is not theater at all, and everyone was wrong? Suddenly it turned out that this is our everyday life, "- this is how the author begins the presentation of the project, and comes to the conclusion:" interactivity is the main trend of modern theater."

The selected site is located in the south of Moscow, on the promontory of the eastern coast of the Nagatinsky Zaton, on the site of the Podvodrechstroy industrial zone, opposite the River Park residential complex and a stone's throw from the Nagatinsky Zaton metro station under construction.

Since the Nagatinsky backwater was not so long ago the site of the construction of river vessels, the remains of river vessels and cranes are still preserved on the banks. Marina Ksenofontova suggests melting them into sculptures, and turning a parked barge into a floating stage.

The stage is set from the side of the river in front of the auditorium box - open in summer and warm in winter. The floor of the auditorium was conceived as transformable, allowing the rows of chairs to be turned into a space for interactive work with the audience. An extended volume adjoins the box of the auditorium, including dressing rooms, exhibition spaces, restaurants and parking lots: it has 2 underground and 2 aboveground tiers. The volume, grouped around a string of atriums, stretches along the Moskva River, here it has built-in cranes for loading theater ships. From the side of the backwater, a spacious walking platform appears along it, a kind of hyper-gallery: in the first tier of the support, in the second there is a park raised above the ground, a complex recreational space zoned with sculptures melted down from the remnants of ships. A monorail-funicular also runs along the hinged park - a kind of hanging garden. In front of the stage, the platform turns to the left, forming a triangle hanging on supports above the water.

All together - a space of special impressions, complexly composed and endowed with very different emotional characteristics - does not look too much like the building itself, because it looks like a transparent lattice structure, reminding at the same time of the tents of the festival Kazantip and the metal structures of shipyards, which once constituted the main function. this territory. The image of the shipyard does not go away, but rather is interpreted in a scenographic key.

The floating scene on the ship - a separate plot of the project - is made up of three-dimensional cubes-modules with built-in lighting. According to the plan, they can be stacked on top of each other, used as a multi-tiered stage platform, grouping them into complex figures within a large parallelepiped with a side length of up to 100 m. The program of tours around the Moscow River amphitheaters, both existing and under construction, has been thought out also by country.

The project was carried out within the framework of the NomadHouse competition -

Housing for digital nomads 2030, whose task was to “come up with a hybrid of home and work for the digital nomads of the future”, is flexible enough to accommodate the permanent migration of its inhabitants, and looks far enough into the future - 10 years ahead.

The area of Sandy Streets considered by the author of the project is located to the west of the Khodynskoye Pole, and the selected design site is the territory of garages between Sorge and Kuusinen Streets, not far from the newly built VEB Arena.

Residential buildings fill in the gaps in the front of the "Stalinist" development, they are built in U-shaped quarter frames around two courtyards without cars, but with one tier of parking in the stylobate. Commercial ground floors are envisaged, with storage rooms for residents in the semi-basement tiers. Between the houses there is a public boulevard with an amphitheater around the fountain.

The project interprets the current agenda of remote work: the last stage of work on diplomas fell on the spring quarantine. It's not only about the coworking spaces provided by the author in the lower floors of the house, but all the apartments are designed as two-tier ones, with an internal spiral staircase, and are designed for a full-fledged study at home.

6. Coral Island

Revitalization of an oil platform in the Adriatic Sea

Daria Verkeenko

The project was created within the framework of an Italian international competition

Proximity Island, whose participants, according to the brief, were tasked with proposing a project for a new use of an abandoned oil platform in the Adriatic Sea, 30 km from Ravenna. Some of these offshore platforms are now shutting down for environmental reasons, and the main method of their disposal is dismantling and destruction onshore, which is difficult and expensive. The program of the competition included the function of the Great Water Museum with division into sections of the Adriatic Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and the Ocean.

Daria Verkeenko suggested growing a new island of sea corals on the platform: corals are proposed to be grown in water on a metal frame, in well-lit areas, and then use "coral limestone" to build walls on the platform above the water. For large blocks of masonry, the author proposes to use "large globular colonies", coral fragments, bonded with lime, are also considered as building material.

The coral building program includes a museum, restaurant and hotel. Overgrown with limestone, the platform becomes very similar to a coastal or mountainous Mediterranean town with stairs and arches, and in some places even to the planet Tatooine. Almost everywhere - arches and stairs, almost everywhere you can look at the water.

7. Festivals by the water

Film Festival Center on Luzhnetskaya Embankment

The site of the film festival center was suggested by Vladimir Plotkin: “Six or seven years ago we made the concept of the KFC building for Nikita Mikhalkov on this site. But Maria Shchukina's project is nothing like it, except that the idea of approaching the building from the side of the river coincides; everything else is an independent work of the author”.

The site is located behind the Druzhba gym and the Olympic Committee building, on the embankment. Now he is busy with a warehouse of deicing reagents.

Maria Shchukina places the pier right in front of the festival center, and solves the building as a parallelepiped extending from the embankment into the depths. Part of the building is located on a pontoon on the water next to the quay - from the main volume to it stretches a 3-tier transition, a kind of bridge over the passage, connecting the KFC with the water. Part of the roof, from the side of the river, including the roof of the "bridge", is designed as a large open terrace.

zooming
zooming

One of the main plots is the festival road, a wide gallery that cuts the building asymmetrically diagonally from the pier to Luzhniki Street at ground level and at level -1: the busiest events are planned on and around it. The core of the building inside is a large hall, uniting 3 tiers in height plus a small superstructure of a technical "box" on top. Inside, however, there are many more halls of various sizes, united by public foyers, zoned with many screens-brand walls for photographing. The space of the upper tiers is connected by many stairs, which ensures its coherence and constant movement - the "overflow" of spectators and participants of festivals inside.

The facades conceived in the project are of two types: more strict and closed everyday ones and open openwork - festival ones. Thus, during festivals, the building, on the one hand, would spread the radiance of its active inner life outward, interacting interactively with the surrounding space. On the other hand, lace fronts could create intricate shapes within the shadows cast by sunlight.
