The name of the complex - Five - reminds of its location in the Prague-5 district. A hundred years ago it was an industrial zone, for which a depot with a tram terminus was built. But even then, this part of the city was gradually turning into a residential area: the Smikhovskaya Brewery, Staropramen, and its surroundings held out the longest, but even it had to place new facilities in other places, since the space for development was over.
The depot, standing very close by, found itself in an even more difficult position: the tram line was removed, and the new appointment was not found. Ultimately, Qarta architects turned it into the foundation for a modern office complex with an eye-catching outer skin of two layers of metal mesh over glass.
In addition to the grid, the glorious industrial past is reminiscent of the abundance of concrete and the characteristic interior details in the former depot. It is now occupied by cafes and shops. Above are the standard office floors rented by international companies even before construction was completed, and on the partially greened roof there is a terrace overlooking Prague Castle and other landmarks of the Czech capital.
