Jean Nouvel drew the attention of the press to two of his works. The first is the Dubai Opera House, a project under development. In it, the architect tried to reflect the impression of music as an art form and the natural environment of the building. Its location on the shore of the bay is important, where, with the interaction of light and water, various visual effects arise, and, thanks to the fog, the air can seem thick, and the land can gradually dissolve, turning into the opposite element. The theater will change its appearance depending on the angle of view and on the lighting, remaining an iconic structure for the city. Its interior is a development of the main idea of Arab architecture: the free play of light and shadow in geometric shapes.

Also presented were new visualizations and design diagrams of a high-rise office building, which is now being built according to Nouvel's design in the capital of Qatar, Doha. The 45-story tower's façade is covered with a metal sunscreen imitating traditional Arab designs. The construction of this skyscraper should be completed by the end of 2008.

Zaha Hadid plans to give a talk at IDF 07 about his Sheikh Zayed Bridge, which is supposed to connect the island on which the city of Abu Dhabi is located to the mainland. This project has been under development since 1997 and is now under construction. The fabric of the bridge is attached on both sides to an irregular sinusoid of its supporting structure at a height of 20 m above the water. The very "backbone" of the structure reaches a height of 60 m above sea level. The total length of the bridge is 842 m, and on land it is complemented by a complex system of flyovers.

Norman Foster also presented a groundbreaking project for the UAE, in this case a blueprint for a new green city. It will be part of Abu Dhabi, at the same time - a completely autonomous region. Its layout is based on the principles of the construction of ancient walled cities. Called the Masdar Initiative, the new city will fully recycle its waste and generate zero carbon emissions. The new solar power plant will play an important role in this. In addition to residential and office buildings, a new university will also be built there, the headquarters of the Future Energy Company - the customer of the project, special economic zones and an Innovation Center. High-density buildings on an area of 600 hectares will be serviced by a developed system of public transport, most of which are environmentally friendly. There will be no cars in the city at all.
