The automotive concern annually celebrates the best German buildings in this area, as well as student works on a given topic.
Among the completed buildings, it was decided to reward the parking garage of the Leipzig zoo (HPP Hentrich Petschnigg & Partner, Düsseldorf) and the Ludwigshafen-Mitte S-Bahn train station in Darmstadt (Jux Group) with two equivalent awards.
The zoo's garage is lined with bamboo, which connects the building with the rest of the complex, where the natural environment of the inhabitants has been reconstructed. This immediately creates an appropriate mood for visitors leaving their cars there.
The centerpiece of the Ludwigshafen-Mitte station is the gleaming glass floor of the overpass platform. This congested transport hub solution embodies the idea of modern, human-centered architecture.
The laureates will receive statuettes by the sculptor Thomas Schonauer, the winners of the student competition - cash prizes.
