If we stick to the facts exactly, we are still talking not about construction, but about reconstruction: a new facade and an atrium of a ten-storey store will be made according to the project of Dutch architects.
At the same time, thanks to these changes, the appearance of the building will be radically changed, and the department store will become the largest shopping center in Taiwan.
The all-glass, curved façade of the building combines curtain walls with horizontal and vertical fins for better weather and sun protection. Its curvilinear forms repeat the structure of the complex's interiors.
The organization of the interior space of the store is based on the idea of merging all ten above-ground and two underground levels of the building: each floor should seem to be a natural continuation of the previous one.
All escalators connecting the tiers are twisted in a spiral, which creates a uniform direction of movement from the bottom to the top of the building. This structure will also help guide shoppers in the department store space.
