Kurokawa, who died in 2007, managed to complete his project, but it was already implemented by British architects Garbers & James. This center, like other institutions in this series, is designed to support - primarily informational and psychological - cancer patients and their loved ones. It does not replace, but complements the traditional oncology department of the hospital (in this case, Singleton Hospital in Swansea), on the territory of which it is located; the comfortable, cozy environment of each Maggie center is sharply different from the usual healthcare facility with its impersonality and even gloom.

The Swansea Center is located in an elevated position next to a small forest. In plan, it resembles a spiral - a "cosmic whirlpool" or "rotating galaxy", as Kurokawa intended. Like other architects of the program, he was a close friend of its initiator Maggie Jenks-Kezwick, who died of cancer in 1994. She was a landscape architect and artist, and the spiral motif as a symbol of the world that connects all elements, connecting man and space, West and East, was close to her creative credo, Kurokawa explained his plan.

At the heart of the spiral is the semantic center of the building - a spacious kitchen enclosed in a cylinder. From it there are two wings with rooms for therapy and relaxation, a library, etc., as well as open terraces. The landscape was designed by Kim Wilkie.

Facades made of "rough" concrete enliven asymmetrically positioned windows and small pieces of metal "implanted" into the surface of the walls. The openings in the ceilings play a special role: the light penetrating through them delimits the functional zones in the interior.
