The building contains book depositories of literature on astrophysics, biology, chemistry, geology and geography, mathematics, physics and statistics, as well as a variety of rooms for individual and group studies.

In the new building, the visitor will not see a single book in the "open access", so all his attention will be absorbed by the extraordinary curves of the library spaces, painted in rich light green, orange and blue colors. They are complemented by bright furniture, also designed by Gehry. Abstract geometric shapes and unexpected outlines of volumes should, according to the architect, inspire the researchers studying in the library to new discoveries, distracting from everything familiar. At the same time, Frank Gehry himself drew ideas for his project from the outside world - and transformed them beyond recognition.

The small lobby of the building flows into an extensive atrium from where you can see all parts of the complex. The upper level is occupied by a group study area, from where you can see the entire campus. Another auditorium, the Tree House, under a mansard roof, is lit by cylindrical lamps that resemble the branches of unusual trees. The small turret of the building is also occupied by classrooms.

From the outside, the building looks more restrained: the main material used was light brick, complemented by steel, glass and aluminum.

The new library will be the center of the new "quarter" of the Princeton campus; educational buildings designed by Raphael Vignoli and Michael Hopkins will soon appear nearby.
