The residential complex Suites Avenue is a kind of hotel, where anyone can rent one of 41 apartments for a while. This building is located next to the Casa Mila by Antoni Gaudí and is inspired by it. According to Ito, his work has always been influenced by Gaudí, and he sees in him the most important representative of organic architecture, which, he believes, is the future. Toyo Ito took on the Suites Avenue project only because of its unique location.
The glass curtain wall of the building's façade is decorated with white undulating ribbons that hide the balconies behind them. In addition to the façade, Ito also designed the central atrium and small patios of the house, while the rest of the project was in charge of the Spanish architects Carlos Bassó and Toni Olaya.
This year, two towers of the Porta Fira (or Fira Barcelona 2) complex, located in the area of the Fira Barcelona exhibition complex, where there are already Ito buildings, are also due to be commissioned. Both high-rise buildings will reach a height of 114 m. The first, called Fira 1, a red cylinder of curved outlines is a future hotel, the second, Torre Realia BCN, a transparent glass prism with an organic tower enclosed inside, will become an office complex. The project includes "green" elements: solar panels, rainwater and natural lighting systems.
