Stockholm has followed the path of other European capitals, where gas tanks that have lost their former significance are being adapted for new needs. In his case, we are talking about two gas tanks in the Jortagen area, one - standard (No. 3), the other - giant (No. 4): a metal cylinder 88 m high, built in 1932. It is the latter that will become the basis for the 47-storey tower at 520 apartments.

The facades will be designed by Swiss architects in the now popular "vibrating" manner, when individual floors of the building are slightly protruding or recessed relative to each other. The tower will be divided by deep vertical niches into separate sectors; these niches will appear thanks to the V-shaped plan of each apartment, in which the inner surface of the V will be completely glazed. Various infrastructure facilities will be located on the ground floor.

The adjacent gas tank, No. 3, will be converted into an exhibition hall combined with a bicycle garage; a sculpture park will be created around.

Despite the impressive height of the future skyscraper, it will insignificantly change the panorama of the city, since the gas holder existing in its place is also a large bright vertical, and much less attractive than the Herzog & de Meuron version.

Construction is expected to start in 2011 and finish in 2013.
