The idea of building a similar building in the city appeared 100 years ago; over the years, several options for its location have changed. Now, finally, we settled on a site on the shore of Lake Constance, in the "Little Venice" area, and as a result of the competition, the project of the workshop "Dietrich | Untertrifaller ". For the final approval of this plan, only the approval of the townspeople is required at the appropriate referendum in March this year.
The project involves the construction of not only a concert hall (which also functions as a congress center), but also a hotel and a multi-level parking lot surrounded by green spaces. The jury chose this option due to its clear urban planning concept, compactness of the volume of buildings, energy efficiency and high quality of the technical concept. Also a plus in favor of the Austrian architects was the decision of the hall with a huge panoramic window overlooking the lake. The concert hall is designed for 1200 seats, but in an hour and a half it can be adapted for holding congresses, dividing horizontally into two parts.
The hotel building will consume a minimum amount of energy, and the hall is supposed to be built without an active heating system at all: they will exchange cold and warm air with each other depending on the ambient temperature.
Construction is planned to begin in a year, in February 2011, and finish in May 2013. The project budget is 60 million euros, of which 43 million will be spent on the concert hall.
