William Brand is not coming to Moscow for the first time, and the purpose of his current trip was to acquaint Russian architects and designers with unlimited possibilities in choosing the lighting of objects of any complexity: public or private. William offered to come up with and realize dreams with him. The novelty of timeless natural images and natural phenomena, inspired by each individual lamp, is amazing. According to him, only imperfect technical capabilities of the 21st century can stop the implementation of the conceived light object.
As part of the Arch Moscow exhibition, ARCHISTUDIO organized a master class "The Power of Sculptural Design" for everyone who wants to see William Brand's light compositions, invented and embodied for various objects located in different parts of the world. And during the lecture, he offered to come up with and realize dreams with him. The models presented at the stand attracted visitors with their unusual shapes, details, finishes and, of course, the designer's imagination. The customers of the original lamps were well-known world brands that open chain boutiques and showrooms, members of royal dynasties, musicians and actors.
We are sure that Russian architects and decorators have discovered new possibilities for creating and lighting interiors - for the illusory transformation of spaces. The dialogue that arose during the lecture emphasized that non-standard lighting is a powerful catalyst for the creation of new aesthetics. Design objects are in great demand in Russia, BRAND VAN EGMOND® receives many orders from Russia. Our clientele is as diverse as Russia itself, from establishment to rappers. In Vladivostok, for example, a project was developed for a new Hyatt hotel and in Moscow, lamps for the recently opened Louis Vuitton boutique.

Handcrafted and finely detailed, Brand van Egmond is a work of art. Clients are often guided by this feature of work and they like to use such items in their interiors.
William Brand: “I think our design is inherently ambivalent. Our lamps have something from the aesthetics of medieval castles, and from the most fashionable modern nightclubs. Our facilities are, of course, a product of the 21st century, I cannot deny this. However, in many of our collections, elements of the past are actively used. At the very least, we are trying to capture the feeling of the past tense and use it in a new design. By playing with powerful archetypes drawn from history and giving them a second life, we can bridge the gap between the past and the future."
Today the number of the BRAND VAN EGMOND team® about 70 people. Most are hand-made light sculptures. A quarter of a century ago, the founders of the company had a desire to engage in design and its implementation. However, no manufacturer was willing to take on unusually complex projects. As a result, we had to organize our own workshop. This is how a unique design firm appeared, which has accumulated a huge experience of its own in professional developments: from design and production to packaging and rendering, unlike other companies, which often have to turn to external specialists. A team of the best craftsmen in the industry has been created, the firm can rightfully be proud of its work. When creating a new luminaire for each concept, the process can be different. In this work, the designers and the team are creatively free and ready to experiment - this is an integral part of the production process, which is unconventional and more akin to the work of an artist or sculptor than a designer.
The complex shapes of chandeliers make you think that not only mathematical and engineering calculations allow you to design such spiritual things. Inspiration, talent and crazy ideas help to make not only unusual and unforgettable lamps, but to create an organic and comfortable space, which is the ultimate goal of any project.
