The new building is designed to host both concerts within the framework of the annual festival of classical music, and various congresses and conferences that will increase the city's income from tourism. An art gallery and café are also planned for the Les Arts Gstaad center.
Ricciotti built his building into the hillside, the outlines of which echoes her sculptural, wood-paneled volume. Inside, the main hall will be located, resembling a "crystal grotto", and the foyer and exhibition spaces will be placed underground.
The jury consisting of Kenneth Frampton and Vittorio Magnago Lampunyani noted the natural appearance of the building, which “seemed to have grown by itself” in its intended place.
The second place in the competition was taken by the SLIK bureau from Zurich, the honorary prizes were awarded to Claus & Kaan and Gigon / Guyer.
