For the first time, a representative office of the main Japanese manufacturer of musical instruments Yamaha was built in Tokyo 60 years ago. The building is located in the cultural and commercial center of the Japanese capital - the Ginza area. Since then, the former "house of music" has fallen into disrepair, and building standards in this part of the city have become simplified, so the owners of the Tokyo office decided to build a new structure instead - more original.

Nikken Sekkei architects tried to convey the essence of the Yamaha brand in their project, primarily through the unusual decor. The façade is made of glass panels arranged in a diagonal grid. Multicolored rhombuses symbolize musical diversity: the change of colors on the surface of the building is like the changing sound of musical instruments during one piece, the alternation of elements creates a kind of rhythmic pattern. Between the glasses with high translucency, you can see the product of the latest technical developments - rhombuses made of glass, which contains golden sand.

A concert hall, a Yamaha brand store, a music school, a studio, three atriums - behind each of the three facades overlooking Ginza streets are united under one roof. For each of the rooms in which music sounds, specialists have managed to create a special environment with excellent acoustic parameters. Special attention was paid to soundproofing. In one of the halls, the ceiling has a waveform - this is an example of working with acoustics. This profile gives the impression that sounds bouncing off the ceiling surface are coming from above.
