The exhibition of the nominees for the award, located under the colonnade at the main entrance to the Central House of Artists, was decorated this year by Anton Kochurkin and Alisa Kurganova. They built a snake labyrinth of plywood constructions, mounted in them photographs of projects, and below each nominee they pulled ropes - it was possible to vote for the object you liked not only on the website of the award, but also right at the exhibition, using clothespins. VolgaDacha bureau Boris Bernasconi scored a record number of them, so the project was predicted to win in the "popular" vote, but in the end for a modernized "barn" with an area of 90 sq. M. voted by a professional jury. At first glance, VolgaDacha is too small for a family with two children, but, as the author of one of the comments on the award's website correctly noted, this is clearly not the first home for people who "decided to add variety to their daily routine and try the Spartan lifestyle." For all its asceticism, the house also has elements of luxury, such as a deck with an outdoor shower connected to a bathtub, and makes up for the lack of space with wide terraces.
But the leader of Internet voting in the Country House nomination could not decide for a long time: the struggle unfolded between the “House on a Slope” by the architect from Nizhny Novgorod Kirill Pernatkin (Avtokomplekt CJSC) and the house in the village of Zakharovo by Oleg Karlson. Both projects were quite aggressively supported by "fans": opponents of the house in Zakharovo insisted that it was somehow awkward to design in neoclassicism today, supporters no less actively defended the "Chekhovian flavor". As a result, Oleg Karlson received a special prize for this project from the magazine "Wooden houses". Well, the Nizhny Novgorod project did find its victory, though not unconditional. I liked it, probably, by the original layout of two volumes - the lower stone part and the upper wooden part, as well as the roof to the ground, isolating it from its neighbors.
This year, ARCHIWOOD again did not avoid confusion with the nominations - the objects received for the award were so different that the list of the nominations themselves had to be adjusted. In particular, a "Small Object" appeared among them. The best in this genre, the jury recognized the Archpriyut - an energy-efficient eco-house, built during the last winter festival "GORODA" in just 24 hours by a team led by Ivan Ovchinnikov. But the favorite of the popular vote was the object from last year's "Archstoyanie" - "Office of Remote Access", made by the artist Alexander Konstantinov. In terms of architecture, this is an extremely simple volume - a wooden shed covered with milk polycarbonate, first of all, impresses with its poetics: many people want to work in solitude, in the middle of the wild.
No matter how hard the organizers of the award tried to distribute the objects by nominations, the curiosities still came out: for example, in the Small Objects the Church of the Deposition of the Robe from the village of Boradava, Vologda Oblast, competed with pavilions and bathhouses, which is quite worthy of a separate nomination. Similarly, in Design of the Urban Environment, Strelka crushed benches and gazebos with its scale. Grigory Revzin, who presented the jury prize in this nomination, even remarked that all this was rather vulgar and too predictable, "after all, they talked about only Strelka for a whole year." However, it is pointless to deny the merits of its authors from the Wowhaus bureau - the chamber space with the wooden wave of the amphitheater and the magnificent terrace of the bar is very much loved by the architects. And the people, meanwhile, voted for the lattice pavilions in the Marfino studio "PlanAR". However, the authors admitted that the residents of the district voted for them - and this is a fairly solid quorum.
By the way, some voters suggested that Strelka should be moved to a more appropriate scale for the Wood in Finish nomination. However, here and without her, many worthy works have gathered. The jury awarded the victory to the Yachtsman's House in the Pirogovo resort by architect Svetlana Golovina. Very modest on the outside and small in size, the house showed all its elegance in decoration - facades made of hinged wooden slats alternating with plexiglass and interiors of noble gray oak. Most of the voters on the site, in turn, preferred Alexander Brodsky and his "House at the fifth hole" in the same "Pirogovo". By the way, this is the largest object in the portfolio of Brodsky's workshop - the total area is 1898 sq. M. The house turned out to be amazing: it looks traditional, but does not imitate the classics, it has columns and even a classic grid of rectangular windows on the facade, but they are modern. The house is modest and majestic at the same time, and it is absolutely impossible to determine its true scale. One of the projects participating in the NEXT exhibition - the so-called. "Hozblok" architects Alexander Erman and Dmitry Mikheikin. This building is part of a country estate, such a modernized checkpoint, in which there is a boiler room and a workshop and an original observation tour around the perimeter, whose "sacredness", as the authors write, goes back to the ancient pyramids.
Perhaps the most homogeneous in terms of the composition of the projects turned out to be the nomination "Art Object" - a lot of cute little things from Kenozersky Park, the CITY festival and so on competed for the award. The jury chose the "Letter" Peace "from the workshop" Sergei Kiselev & Partners "for the" City of Az ", which was created on the settlement of Old Ryazan, as the winner. The letter looks like a booth for contemplation: the architect Andrei Ivanov, who presented the prize, admitted that it is great to lie in it - “you see a cut above your head in the form of yourself, you feel peace and light …”. The leader of the popular vote in this nomination was the "Tank" Flowers to the Fallen ", which the" Children of Iofan "bureau invented for the exhibition at Winzavod. The outline of the tank is assembled from wooden slats, and its tracks are covered with black drapery: the war crushes human destinies with this terrible weapon, which symbolize living carnations. The voters on the site liked the restrained pathos of this composition very much.
And only once the voice of the people coincided with the professional one: in the nomination "Interior" they jointly awarded the project of restructuring the attic called "Wooden Curvature", which was developed by Dmitry Alexandrov and Vera Gapon for the broadcast "Dachny Answer". The original vault of wooden slats created a cozy and intimate space with a podium bench around the perimeter.
