The laureate was Bernard Desmoulin: his building of the Leo Delibes Conservatory in the Paris suburb of Clichy, a school of music, theater and ballet for children and adults, was honored. According to the author, his project combines the “theatrical approach” associated with the function of the building, with the urban planning approach, due to the position of the new structure in the fabric of urban development. The jury compared the Desmoulins building to a "long ship made of concrete"; on its four levels there is an auditorium with 230 seats and classrooms of various sizes.
The traditional First Built Prize was awarded to Frédéric Chartier and Pascale Dalix for a sports complex in Meaux near Paris. The young architects worked in close cooperation with the municipality, which is always taken into account by the jury of the Silver Square: all its money prizes are divided equally between the customers and the authors of the project.
A special prize went to LIN this year for their already widely published Design Center in Saint-Etienne, a center for research and popularization of design, erected on the site of a former arms factory that has existed since the 17th century and closed in 2000. Now its complex is being transformed into a full-fledged urban area.
