The structure is designed to accommodate excursion groups: here they can listen to the story of the guide and admire the landscape, being protected from wind and rain.
Dovrefjell attracts visitors with its picturesque landscapes: there is a mountain range of the same name, which includes Mount Snøhetta, which is considered the most beautiful in Norway. Also, wild reindeer, musk oxen, polar foxes live on the territory of the park, rare plants grow. In addition, the region is known for its rich history (minerals have been mined here for a long time, military operations have taken place) and traditions, national legends, poetry and music are associated with it.
Therefore, the Snøhetta structure reflects the complexity and diversity of this “natural, cultural and mythological landscape”. Outside, the pavilion, commissioned by the Norwegian Wild Reindeer Foundation, looks like a glass and steel box, while inside, an organic wooden volume is created that resembles a rock or glacier hewn by wind and water. The quality and strength of the materials used will allow the building to withstand the harsh climate of Dovrefjell.
