The name of the winery Odette Estate its owners, PlumpJack Group, associate with three Odette - a fairy princess, beloved Swann from the novels of Marcel Proust and a real person - a French wine connoisseur Odette Kahn. According to their idea, the wines produced there are, in accordance with the name, feminine and elegant.
Signum Architecture chose the first Odette, the enchanted princess from the ballet Swan Lake, as its inspiration, so the roof of the building resembles a bird's wing. Similar associations are evoked by the white perforated panels that enclose the work area in front of the main entrance. The rounded plan of the building allowed it to fit into the depression between the hills located in the east of the Napa Valley.
The building received a LEED Gold resource efficiency certificate thanks to a green roof, solar panels, and the use of "recyclable materials" - three shipping containers for office and laboratory space.
