Football club "Manchester City" has set out to create the world's best training base, focused mainly on the training of young athletes. The complex, in addition to a football school for 400 students, will include a 7,000-seat stadium, sports housing, offices, a media center and 18 training fields. The main team of the club will receive its own building with changing rooms, a gym, a canteen, medical and rehabilitation rooms, a fitness center, and indoor courts.
32 hectares of former industrial areas in eastern Manchester are set aside for development, opposite the Etihad stadium, the club's home arena, which is planned to be connected to the new football school by a pedestrian bridge. In the center of the site there will be a stadium, round in plan, where games of the reserve, youth and women's football teams of the club will be held. The circle is inscribed in a square, from which the training fields unfold with four petals.
Currently, the project of the football academy has already been approved by the city authorities. But the timing of the implementation of the entire complex has not yet been determined: it is reported that it can begin work in 2014-2016.
