The house, implemented under the Living Architecture program, is intended for temporary residence and is designed for a family or company of up to 9 people.

It was built on the outskirts of a village whose history goes back more than one century, and the architectural appearance has long been formed, so JVA was faced with the task of designing not just a comfortable modern cottage, but a structure that did not contrast too much with its surroundings. And since the vast majority of houses here have traditional two- and four-pitched roofs, the architects almost immediately decided on the dimensions, height and silhouette of the projected volume.

However, this does not mean that JVA architects covered their cottage with a banal "cocked hat". In fact, its top floor is designed as several separate houses, placed on a single platform - this made it possible to visually reduce the volume of the new building and give it a characteristic and at the same time very dynamic silhouette.

The house is related to the surrounding buildings not only by the pediments, but also by the selected materials - wood, painted in a dark color, with which the second floor is trimmed, and metal sheets, with which the roof itself is sheathed.

The first floor is decided in a fundamentally different way - these are completely transparent walls, thanks to which from a distance the house seems to be hanging in the air. To enhance this effect, the architects slightly deepened its base, hiding at the expense of the relief both the approach to the cottage and its developed terraces.

This duality (transparent bottom - dead top) is ideally combined with the functional program of the object. The ground floor houses the kitchen, dining room and living room - and since the house is built on the outskirts of the village and overlooks the famous Suffolk dunes, the architects maximized all public areas to the picturesque landscape.

At the same time, completely transparent walls made it possible to make all the premises of the first floor bright, which is important for the English climate with its lack of bright sun.

The bedrooms are located on the second floor. Natural wood makes these rooms very cozy, numerous asymmetrical windows allow you to fully enjoy the landscape from here, and the shape of the roof guarantees the isolation of each of the rooms.
