What kind of architecture can coexist harmoniously in a rainforest? The Australian architect answered this question with a curved, mirrored facade, completely dissolving the structure into the surrounding lush vegetation. You can recall the movement of an alien hunter through the forest from the popular movie "Predator": it was this visual effect that was deliberately reproduced.
The building is not only and not so much a “gateway to the Garden of Eden”, but a cultural and information center for visitors. Behind the mirrored tape are the café terrace, information desks, exhibition spaces and staff offices. It is especially worth noting that it is always cool and dry inside, you can take a break from the constant tropical heat and moisture.
It is quite understandable that great attention was paid to its environmental safety. To realize the beautiful concept, it took the help of engineers, designers, hydraulics and landscape specialists. As a result, it was possible to introduce a system of natural ventilation and convection, to install containers for collecting rainwater, which is necessary in the maintenance of the building and the surrounding area, to actively use the possibilities of the accumulated heat mass to create coolness inside the room, as well as to use renewable energy sources.
The relatively small building (only 1,415 m2) cost 4.7 million Australian dollars.
