The complex is located in the southernmost city of the country, Sanya, and takes advantage of all the advantages of a tropical climate. It consists of a 10-storey building with an openwork concrete screen on the facades, which protects the interior from the sun. Behind it are landscaped corridors with natural ventilation.
But two-thirds of the rooms are located in semi-detached bungalows that are grouped around water gardens, each about a hectare in size. Each room has a green, open bathroom.
The complex is designed as a series of inhabited gardens: in addition to greenery in the main building and water gardens, there are courtyard gardens and orchid gardens in the spa center. All roofs are also landscaped, so the hotel looks like a green patchwork from the height of the neighboring buildings.
The sources of inspiration are the Sanya rice fields and traditional Chinese palace and park ensembles.
Sustainable elements of the project include natural lighting and pass-through ventilation, long-reach roofs and sun screens, green roofs, and natural rainwater storage and treatment systems.
