According to ITAR-TASS, the official presentation of Sergei Kuznetsov as the new chief architect of Moscow took place today at a meeting of the city government. There, the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, introduced the new head of the Moscow Committee for Architecture and Construction - Andrei Antipov, who previously headed the State Unitary Enterprise “Mosgorgeotrest”. Let us remind you that these positions were combined until August of this year. As Sergei Sobyanin explained today at a meeting of the city government, "the duties of the chairman of the committee include the current management work, there is no time for creativity, therefore it was decided to divide the positions of the chairman of the committee and the chief architect." “The chief architect will oversee specific urban planning projects, work with the expert community,” the Interfax news agency quoted the mayor as saying.

It is already known that an Architectural Council will be formed under the chief architect of Moscow, which will include representatives of the professional community. According to the order of the mayor given today, the composition of the council and regulations on its activities should be developed within the next two weeks.

We will remind, earlier the position of the chief architect of Moscow was occupied by Alexander Kuzmin. He headed the Moskomarkhitektura since 1996 and left his post on 12 July. His successor, Sergei Kuznetsov, is only 35 years old, in 2001 he graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute and since 2006 has been the managing partner of the SPEECH Choban / Kuznetsov bureau. Kuznetsov is the author and co-author of more than 50 projects implemented in various cities of Russia and the CIS countries, including an office building on Leninsky Prospekt, the Aquatics Palace in Kazan, a number of Olympic facilities in Sochi and the development of urban planning documentation for the Skolkovo Innovation Center.
